¡@¡´ Loquats     Yielding Season: February~April

At the time when the Japanese occupied Taiwan, there was a Japanese who had a passion for horticulture. Upon his return from Japanese, he brought to Taiwan improved seeds of loquat mao tree and tanaka. He tried to grow them in many places, to all attempts failed. Finally, he found the most suitable field in Mozitung, Biankengmo, Taiping.

In this way, the production of loquats increased enormously and its price became more reasonable; loquats came to be widely accepted and loved by the public. The most famous loquats are from Toubiankeng, Taiping. Taiping is not only the origin of loquats nationwide, its loquats are the symbol of succulence!

February~April

May~June¡´ Litchis    Yielding season: May~June

In the beginning, the quality of the litchis of Taiwan origin was poor. Most of the juicy litchis we taste today are of the premium quality imported to Taiwan from the Taiping Lins in Ching Dynasty. They were planted in the inner city of Toubiankeng, Taiping. Later they were spread out via a technique that uses the connection of branches. At present, the inner city still boasts the oldest litchi tree in Taiwan, dabbed the mother of Taiwan litchi trees!

¡´ Longans     Yielding season: June~August

Longan trees are commonplace in hilly terrain. Of course the professional cultivation of longan is just as important in Taiping. Apart from longan's juicy fruits, dried longan is an important ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, and longan honey is the byword for high quality honey.

May~October¡´ Bamboo     Yield season: May~October

¡@¡@Taiping, on mountainous hilly terrain, is suitable for the cultivation of bamboo, and so bamboo is also an important agriculture product in Taiping. Chinese people are clever with bamboo, apart from using bamboo to make a wide range of tools, fresh and tender bamboo makes a popular delicacy.
The yielding season for bamboo is from May through to October, June to July is the peak season.

¡´ Carambola    Yielding seasons: January~March, May~DecemberJanuary~March, May~December

The yielding seasons for carambolas are as long as ten months. Carambola fruits are high in nutrition and have a wide range of applications. Apart from the fruit being used for growing, they can also be canned, made into jam or wine (which is refreshing and fragrant). When they have a sore throat or cough yellow sputum (an indication of internal heat), the elderly have the habit of eating carambola dabbed in salt or drinking carambola juice. After eating two or three carambolas, they will feel much better.

¡´ Honey    Yield season: All year

All yearTaiping, having a rich range of nectar source fruits including litchis, longans and loquats, is a favorite for sweet food loving bees. With diligent cultivation by the farmers at Taiping, honey has also become an important product in Taiping - the Eden of fruits.
